Special to the Town Crier
Some of the most prominent business leaders and professionals from the area will take part in the American Cancer Society 12th annual Tri County Golf Classic on Monday, Aug. 9, at The Lake Club in Poland.
This year’s title sponsor is again The Home Savings and Loan Company. Donald Pipino, founder of the Donald P. Pipino Company, is this year’s honoree. Edward Muransky, Chairman of the Board and Founder of The Muransky Companies, is the honorary chair.
Donation for a team of four to this upscale tournament is $5,000. This four-person scramble is limited to 32 teams. Each team may choose from three flights, depending on the golfer with the lowest index average.
“This is not your ordinary golf outing, but one where everyone is treated like royalty from the time they arrive until the time they leave,” said Greg Jett, chairman of the event. “Also, it is the perfect setting to build relationships with other key business leaders from our area.”
Activities begin at 10 a.m. with registration and a chipping contest. Lunch is from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. There is a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. A longest drive contest will be held during play. Following 18 holes of golf there is dinner and an awards ceremony. More than 50 volunteers will also be on hand to assist with various tasks and to ensure each participant is treated exceptionally.
Each golfer receives a golf shirt, FootJoy golf shoes, sunglasses, Callaway golf gloves and socks. Also, a dozen roses and a bottle of wine will be given to each golfer at the conclusion of dinner and the awards ceremony.
The 2009 Tri County Golf Classic netted over $95,000. Overall since the tournament began in 1999, it has netted more than a million dollars for the American Cancer Society.
Proceeds from the Tri-County Golf Classic and other fundraising activities are used by the American Cancer Society to save lives by reducing cancer incidence and by reducing the number of deaths caused by cancer.
