Shreves celebrate 60 years of marriage

G. Howard and Ginny Shreve of Austintown celebrated 60 years of marriage on Nov. 17. They will gather with family over the Thanksgiving weekend at their daughter's home.

Mr. Shreve and his wife, the former Ginny Burk, were married on Nov. 17, 1951, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown, while the city was under two feet of snow.

Mrs. Shreve retired in October 1997 from Associated School Employees Credit Union, where she was a member service representative. She was a member of Mau-Mil Auxiliary to Miriam Chapter 278, Order of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Shreve, a school psychologist who retired in 1987, was employed by the Mahoning County Board of Education and Austintown Local School District. He is a member of Austintown Retired Teachers Association and has been active in the Austintown Growth Foundation and the Mahoning County Republican Party Central Committee. He served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and also during the Korean Conflict.

The couple are members of Westview Church of Christ in Austintown.

The Shreves are the parents of Jennifer (Michael) Kurish of Austintown and Scott (Evelyn) Shreve of Devon, Pa. They have four grandchildren.
