Edna was a Girl Scout leader for many years and was an accomplished seamstress. Her kindness, generosity, unconditional love and concern for the needs of others resulted in their home being open through the years to many who were in need of a temporary place to live.

They first met when he was a newspaper carrier delivering to a home where she worked as a baby sitter and it was love at first sight.
