TRACY, Calif. Sylvia Eileen Bowser, 91, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 23, 2014, at her residence.

She was born June 3, 1923, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Rutledge J. and Lorain E. Monnin Cox.

Eileen was a graduate of the former South High School and had attended Youngstown College. She had worked for Aetna Standard Engineering Co. as secretary and also at the U.S. Army Air Corps, Patterson Field, Dayton.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Tracy, Calif., First Baptist Church of McDonald and formerly with Austintown Community United Church of Christ, where she sang in the choir for several years.

Eileen was devoted to her church and its missions and was a philanthropic giver. She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and generously supported their educational needs and Boy Scouting activities.

She also enjoyed baking and making various crafts for her family to treasure.

She leaves behind her three sons, Bryan R. (Rosina) Bowser of Canfield, Pastor Gregory C. (Evelyn) Bowser of California and Barry W. Bowser of Florida; her seven grandchildren, Bryan R. Jr. (Linette) Bowser of Illinois, Aaron (Heather) Bowser of Canfield, Stephen (Elena) Bowser of Georgia, Priscilla (Dan) Ferguson of Indiana, Adrian (Heather) Bowser of Indiana, Brandon (Meghan) Bowser of Alabama and Brett Bowser of Nebraska; and six great-grandchildren, Luke and Owen Bowser of Canfield, Samantha and Benjamin Bowser of Illinois, and Cailyn and Alyse Bowser of Georgia. She also will be sadly missed by Elizabeth Bowser of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William J. Bowser, whom she married on Oct. 19, 1942, and two sisters, Dolors Noll and Lois Fink.

Services were held Wednesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
