POLAND - Registration for children entering kindergarten in the Poland Local School District will be offered March 4 and 11.
Children presently enrolled in the Union kindergartens do not reregister for first grade.
All kindergarten registrations will be 9 a.m. to noon both days at Union Elementary School, 30 Riverside Drive. Parents and guardians will be able to register children for the preschool and after-school care programs held at North Elementary.
New students in fourth to fourth grades entering Poland schools next fall may register at this time as well. It is not necessary to bring the children to the registration process.
Parents or guardians must provide the following information and bring original copies: the child's original birth certificate and Social Security card; the child's immunization record; proof of residency (mortgage documents, house closing papers or rental agreement); parent identification (driver's license and two current utility bills or credit card statements); and custody papers, if applicable.
A child entering kindergarten must be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1 to be eligible for admission. Those entering first grade must be 6 on or before Aug. 1. If the child attended another school for kindergarten and has a birthday after Aug. 1, you will be referred to the school psychologist before your child is enrolled.
A screening program is planned for April 3-4. Parents will be given an appointment time for the screening during the registration process.
