CANFIELD - The Canfield Fair Foundation and the Board of Directors announced March 8 they are launching a $4.5 million capital campaign to fund a new, year-round exposition facility and additional buildings for the fairgrounds.
The five-year campaign will fund the construction of a 45,000 square-foot coliseum and exposition center, as well as additional buildings and barns for Junior Fair livestock, according to a press release. The campaign also accounts for an additional $500,000 in estimated infrastructure improvements needed to make these buildings a reality.
The first donation to the project was $400,000 from the Canfield Fair Board of Directors, who are spearheading the campaign, along with Matthew Hughes of Fair Funding LLC.
"Not many are aware that for about 40 weeks out of the year, the Canfield Fairgrounds are being utilized by those both inside and outside of the community for special events," Dave Dickey, vice president of Canfield Fair Board of Directors, said in a press release. "A new, year-round facility will greatly increase our ability to serve those needs."
The Canfield Fair Foundation is also in the process of selecting someone from the community at large to act as an honorary chairperson to assist in leading the capital campaign, the press release states.
