CANFIELD - Mahoning County Career and Technical Center teacher Julie Pagnotta recently received the Commitment to Literacy Award.

The early childhood instructor was honored during a reception at A La Cart Catering by the Mahoning Valley Council of the International Reading Association.

She has been an instructor at MCCTC since 1987 and has always promoted the love of literature and the importance of reading.

Pagnotta was nominated for the award by her co-worker and friend, Terry Billock, who said Pagnotta was truly worthy of this award.

"Receiving the nomination from my colleagues is such an honor considering that there are so many other deserving language arts and reading teachers within our organization doing so many exciting things in their classrooms." Pagnotta said. "As an early childhood education career-tech teacher, receiving this recognition shows that literacy is relevant in all subject areas and at all grade levels."
