This is the year that Boardman celebrates 100 Years of excellence on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Boardman Performing Arts Center. The community will "Celebrate the Arts" with music and drama performances and an amazing visual arts display. Doors open for the art show at 5 p.m. and performances begin at 6 p.m.

"We invite the entire community for this spectacular night of free entertainment," says Alumni President and event organizer Cheryl Tarantino. Students from K-12 will be involved and families are welcome to enjoy Disney-themed performances from the elementary chorus, the High School Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band, Choir with Alumni Choir, Orchestra and Drama One Acts featuring current students and alumni.

"The array of talent converging in one place that represents decades of Spartans and their contributions to the arts is truly amazing! So many alumni have contacted us, and are excited to be involved in this celebration," said Tarantino. "There are graduates that date back to the 1940s who've expressed interest in performing, and alumni artwork is also featured in an impressive art display."

The Celebration of the Arts is the third of four major events in a year-long centennial celebration. An Athletics Event in September filled Spartan Stadium to capacity and brought back hundreds of alumni. Watch for information soon, on the final event: a week-long celebration of Boardman "Academics" this Spring.
