Freshmen boys defeat Cardinal Mooney

The boys freshmen team played in a thrilling overtime game defeating Cardinal Mooney by a score of 54-48. After getting off to a slow start in the first two quarters, the Spartans came out in the second half with more life. Nick Ott and Ty Ventresco led the early charge, scoring five points each in the third period. The Spartans entered the fourth quarter tied and looked to Aidan Slocum for a boost. Slocum responded by scoring all of the team's 13 fourth quarter points, including a buzzer beating 3-pointer to force overtime. Slocum went on to score nine more points in overtime finishing with 22 of the team's final 25 points. In total, Slocum scored 32 points, followed by Ventresco with eight, Ott with seven, and Roen Marinelli and Marco Stilliana with three apiece. The win improves the boys record to 10-4 on the season.
