Hilltop reads into the Olympics

The week ending March 2 was Right-to-Read week and Hilltop Elementary School celebrated it by focusing on the Olympic Games. The PTO and staff decorated the school with winter Olympic themed items, and the students were challenged to read books about sports and the Olympics. Besides the read-a-thon, the students spent Wednesday competing in ice hockey (without the ice) and curling.

Third grader Jocelyn Smith kept the score down as the goalie for the girls hockey team in the gymnasium on Feb. 28. Along with her classmates, a hockey game was held using soft padded sticks.
