Marissa Wittmann, a 2014 Canfield High School graduate, is making a name for herself as a member of the University of Akron Competitive Dance Team. Marissa chose the University of Akron because she fell in love with the campus and wanted to continue to showcase her passion for dance by dancing on a competitive collegiate squad. As a freshman, Marissa was instrumental in helping her team achieve the highest score ever by the Akron Dance Team at NDA Nationals in Dayton Beach, Florida as well as being voted "Rookie of the Year" by her coaches and teammates. During her Junior year, Marissa was the recipient of another team award receiving the team's "Most Valuable Dancer" award. As a senior, Marissa will once again return to Daytona Beach, Florida where she will compete with her team at NDA Nationals in April. Besides being a four-year member of the dance team, she has served as an ambassador for the university supporting many community organizations and taking part in events such as the "Buddy Walk" for the Down Syndrome Association. Marissa is majoring in Inclusive Early Childhood Education with a minor in Counseling.
