Final band concert set for May 10

The Canfield High School Bands will present their final concert of the school-year on Thursday, May 10 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The annual spring concert, titled "MetroMusic," and will feature music inspired by the sights and sounds of big cities. The CHS Concert Band will start the concert and perform "Metrodance" (Randall D. Standridge), "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (John Williams arranged by Michael Brown), "Urban Scenes" (Andrew Boysen, Jr.), and "Excelsior" (Karl L. King arranged by Gene Milford).

The CHS Symphonic Band's portion of the concert will feature two band seniors. Vocalist Haley Tura will sing "Someone to Watch Over Me" (George and Ira Gershwin arranged by Warren Barker) and Garret Kuchmaner, alto saxophone, will perform the main title theme to the movie "Catch Me If You Can" (John Williams arranged by Jay Bocook). Other selections performed by the Symphonic Band will include "Drive!" (Patrick Roszell), "Selections from 'West Sire Story'" (Leonard Bernstein arranged by William J. Duthoit), and "Metroplex" (Robert Sheldon). The concert will conclude with the traditional singing of the Canfield High School "Alma Mater" featuring the band's 34 graduating seniors.

The concert is free and open to the public. A donation will be accepted at the end of the concert to benefit the Canfield Bands and all concert attendees are invited to a cookie and punch reception immediately afterwards in the cafeteria.
