ATA sends four to districts

The Austintown ATA (American Taekwondo Association) located on Route 46 has a lot to celebrate this year. Two students, an instructor, and co-owner earned top 10 percent in the state of Ohio to compete for District titles. The co-owner, Nick Vitale, age 25 and 4th degree black belt, received the State Champion title in creative forms. One of the instructors, Kevin Wilhide, also age 25 and 4th degree black belt, received the State Champion title for forms, weapons, and extreme forms. Joshua Comport, age 16 and 3rd degree black belt earned State Champion in weapons. Nic Judy, age 11 and a red belt earned the State Champion in forms for the second year in a row.

The Northeast Districts for the ATA cooperation consists of 15 states. Nick Vitale received a silver medal in creative forms, Kevin Wilhide a bronze in extreme forms, Joshua Comport a bronze in weapons, and Nic Judy a silver in weapons and bronze in forms.

"So proud of everyone who competed today, what an outstanding showing against incredible competition from across the Northeast district," said Vitale on the ATA Facebook website.
