On Friday, a completed shooting range was unveiled as Boy Scout Tim McNally took one final look at the project he took on to earn his Eagle designation.

McNally, son of Tom and Sharr McNally of Canfield, started in Boy Scouts at the age of seven. As a member of Troop 25, he began looking for a project that would help him earn his Eagle Award and he found out that On Target, a non-profit youth and family ministry program, was building a new shooting range at their facility in Canfield. He approached On Target founder Steve Scott and arranged to construct a 10-seat shooting range under a pavilion on the property.

McNally got the go ahead from the Scoutmasters to do the project.

"I raised over $1,500 and did a block chain of emails," McNally said.

He got some help from Ohio Structures in Berlin Center. Employees of the center worked their lunch hours to fabricate metal swivel bases for the shooting seats. They finished all 10 which included locking positions and height adjustments.

The metal pieces were installed with 10 scouts and five adults in roughly six hours. That included the placement of wooden seats and table space spanning the pavilion gallery.

"This helps us complete a project that was started a long time ago," said On Target founder Steve Scott. "This is the final piece of the project. The final nail."

Scott signed off on the Eagle paperwork, signifying it was complete, and for McNalley, it was very timely. On Saturday, McNally left for Germany for a year as a Rotary exchange student.

"His Eagle Court of Honor may have to be on Skype," said his father Tom.
