The Town Crier

At a recent Rotary luncheon, the Rotary Club of Canfield welcomed their 2018-2019 Youth Exchange student, Laurita, from a small town in northern Chile. Laurita will spend the academic year at Canfield High School and is looking forward to meeting new friends and learning about the American culture.

Annually, more than 7000 students from 80 countries take part in exchanges sponsored by Rotary clubs worldwide. Currently there are 17 students from 10 countries spending a year in schools within Rotary District 6650.

To qualify for an exchange, a student should be between the ages of 15 and 18 by Aug. 1, 2018, in the upper-third of his of her academic class, of good character, emotionally stable, and be in good physical condition. Most importantly, he or she must be able and willing to be a good ambassador of the United States. Anyone interested should contact any Rotarian, Sieglinde Warren at or the District 6650 Youth Exchange website at
