Poland area families to welcome AFS exchange students

September 12, 2018
The Town Crier

Each year, AFS Intercultural Programs/USA, a leader in international high school student exchange for 70 years, welcomes 2,200 high school students from more than 90 countries into communities like Poland and Struthers. These students are eager to attend a local high school, live with a host family and discover what America is all about.

AFS-USA is always looking for supportive host families like these families who welcomed their students on Aug. 9, 2018:

Joshua and Tara Bishop from Struthers welcomed Nao from Japan. Nao will be attending Struthers High School.

Maurine Burke from Poland welcomed Isabel from the Spain/Canary Islands. Isabel will be attending Poland Seminary High School.

Dr. Vince and Dinilda Ricchiuti from Poland welcomed Samuele from Italy. Samuele will be attending Poland Seminary High School. Their two children, ages 10 and 11, bonded right away with Samuele, and look up to him as a big brother.

By hosting an AFS Exchange Student, a resident and their family will help build bridges of intercultural understanding at home and abroad while connecting with an outstanding young person. Host families provide a bed and meals, share their daily lives with students, and help guide and support students as they would their own children. Families and their hosted students receive ongoing support from AFS Staff and experienced, local volunteers.
