Girl Scouts help in hurricane relief efforts

September 26, 2018
The Town Crier
Holy Family fifth grade students in Girl Scout Troop #80160 out of Holy Family Parish in Poland met after school to build Hurricane Florence Comfort Kits. The kits are filled with socks, stickers, paper, pencil, personal care items including sample sizes of deodorant, shampoo, hand sanitizer and soap. They also include a note from each girl saying something personal to the recipient to comfort them after the hurricane. They used the proceeds from their Girl Scout Cookie Sales to purchase the items and they will be sending the kits to a shelter in the Carolinas. , 'The girls were compassionate about the children affected by Hurricane Florence,' said Troop Leader Leah Wilson. 'They wanted to use their Girl Scout cookie profits in a way to help them.' Mackenzie Dennison enjoyed the service project and said, 'It was fun to help people in need!'
