WRTA launches free 2018 Holiday Bus

November 28, 2018

The Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA) has officially launched its 2018 Holiday Bus. This festively decorated vehicle is designed to bring cheer to children, adults and everyone who will ride it from now through Christmas Eve Day.

The WRTA Holiday Bus debuted last year and was a tremendous hit. This year's new and enhanced holiday-themed design is carried out both outside and inside of the bus, and holiday music adds to the fun atmosphere.

When the bus pulled into the parking lot of the Boardman location of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County on board was a special passenger: Santa Claus. Excited children, who are students at Alta Head Start, got on the bus for a visit with Santa, whose "throne" was the seat in the back row. Kids also received gift bags courtesy of WRTA and The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County.

According to Dean Harris, Executive Director of WRTA, "The Holiday Bus helps us celebrate with and thank our loyal riders and our community, which so strongly supports us. We're grateful to our Holiday Bus sponsors, First National Bank and WKBN-TV, and also to the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County and Alta Head Start for being a part of this morning's event."

The Holiday Bus will travel every WRTA Fixed Route at least once from now through Christmas Eve Day. All rides on the WRTA Holiday Bus will be free. Its final appearance will be at the First Night event in downtown Youngstown on New Year's Eve.
