Blue Christmas Service set for Dec. 20

December 12, 2018
The Town Crier

On Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Boardman United Methodist Church sanctuary, a "Blue Christmas" service will be held. This Blue Christmas service acknowledges that for some people in our community, the holiday season is not a particularly joy-filled time. Persons who have experienced pain, loss, or perhaps suffer from grief or isolation in this holiday season, are invited and welcomed to a service that allows them the permission to acknowledge their true feelings.

"For some, holidays are difficult in that they may feel lonely, and family gatherings can often force us to 'put on a happy face', denying how we feel," said Rev. Jerry Krueger, Pastor at Boardman United Methodist Church.

A Blue Christmas service is not maudlin, it is uplifting, all the while acknowledging that there are struggles for some at this time of the year. All in this community are welcomed into this service just as they are. All are invited to find a place of refuge, reflection, and hope, as the days once again begin to grow longer.

Boardman United Methodist Church is located at 6809 Market St. Contact the church office at 330-758-4527, or you can find more information on the church website at boardmanmethodist.org.
