When Fitch seniors Izabella Wertz, Kayla Herman, and Sabria Hunter joined forces to do a senior project, it was all about helping those in need.

"We had to do a senior project," said Herman. "So we decided to give back to the community."

Hunter added, "We thought people could use extra help with winter clothing."

They decided on a clothing collection that included winter coats, hats, gloves, and warm clothes to wear. They placed collection boxes at Fitch, the Skate Zone, and Wedgewood Park Christian Church. The boxes were placed on Dec. 3, and they had to be emptied prior to the Dec. 21 deadline.

"We got most of our clothes from the Fitch staff and students," Wertz said.

The collection was for clothing for all ages. The goal is to take the items collected to the Big Reach Center of Hope at Greenford Christian Church. The girls first contacted the Rescue Mission, but was told it was full for clothing donations. The Rescue Mission recommended taking the clothes to Big Reach.

Over the Christmas break, the girls took the clothing home and washed everything prior to taking it to the Big Reach Center. They also made some blankets to donate as well.
