Swim team does well at fundraiser and at Warren meet

The AAC Swim Championships were held on Jan. 12, at Warren G. Harding High School Natatorium. The Canfield High School Swim Team earned second place overall in a field of 8 teams.

Making the podium for earning top three places for the Cardinal boys were Jason Paris (first in the 50 free, third in the 100 free), Rob DiDomenico (second in the 200 free, second in the 500 free), Bobby Kutsch (third in the 200 free), and Luke Dietz (third in the 200 IM).

The Cardinal boys made podium in all of their relay events: 200 Medley Relay (second place team of Connor Fritz, Ty Schaab, Luke Dietz and James Dietz), 200 Freestyle Relay (second place team of Bobby Kutsch, James Dietz, Matthew Peckman, and Jason Paris), and the 400 Freestyle Relay (second place team of Bobby Kutsch, Rob DiDomenico, Matthew Peckman, and Jason Paris).

Top point scorers for the Cardinal girls were Sydney Schuler (first in the 200 free, second in the 500 free), Elle Dawson (fifth in the 100 breaststroke, seventh in the 100 free), Jordan Helmick (sixth in the 100 back, seventh in the 100 fly), and Miranda Peckman (sixth in the 50 free, ninth in the 100 free). This same foursome (Schuler, Dawson, Helmick, and Miranda Peckman) also made podium in the 200 Medley Relay (second) and the 200 Freestyle Relay (third).

The Canfield High School Swim and Dive Team annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser was held on Jan. 6, in the high school cafeteria. A breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, juice and milk was prepared and served by the boosters. The team was there serving food and clearing and setting tables. The money raised supports coach salaries, pool rental fees, meet entry fees, equipment, after-meet meals, etc.
