Duzzny Elected President of Retired Public Employees

Walter M. Duzzny of Austintown has been elected President of the Mahoning Chapter of the Public Employee Retirees Inc.,the statewide oganization of over 60,000 members that provides focused advocacy for all those who receive benefits from the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.The group provides representation on OPERS pension issues before the Ohio General Assembly, and various committees dealing with retirement benefits. PERI co-ordinates with other retirement associations on those issues that affect all retirees.

Duzzny served for more than 28 years in government, most of those as the Emergency Management, and 911 director for Mahoning County and was a member of the Homeland Security National Response Team. A retired U.S. Army Colonel, Duzzny serves as the President of the the Ohio Chapter of the National Safety Council, President of the Reserve Officers Association, Mahoning Chapter, and is President of Emergency Planning Associates, a consulting firm presenting active shooter, and emergency preparedness programs to business, industry, and educational facilities.

Also elected for the Chapter was Norma Marzano, secretary, with the following retaining their offices: Arlene Dechellis, Vice President; Tom Sweder, Treasurer; Trustees Joseph Gorman, William Wade, William Carnie, Marilyn Carroll, Ceil Kidd, Ann Louise Babik, Carol Gonda, MaryLou Senchak, with Curtis Jack Carter serving as Chaplin.
