The Boardman Band received a $3,000 check from Lee Schwebel, VP of Corporate Communications during the Winter Pep Rally at the High School Friday, Jan. 25.

The Boardman Band was nominated for Schwebel's recent online School Spirit Contest. Boardman's Band received over 3,100 votes, and won the grand prize of $3,000.

"We had hundreds of schools from a four-state region, and Boardman's band was the grand prize winner by a considerable margin," said Lee Schwebel. "It is kind of exciting that our hometown school showed this kind of spirit!"

Present for the announcement of a check for school spirit are Sparty, Mason Rassega, Miles Spearman, Lee Schwebel, Boardman Band Director Tom Ruggieri, Mikey Kanos, Sophia McGee, and Toastie. The check came from a nomination of the Boardman Band to an online spirit contest.

In planning for the presentation, Schwebel's shared a jingle that was written over 30 years ago by Shaker Heights grammy-nominated songwriter/pianist Jim Brickman. Boardman Band Director Tom Ruggeri did a jazz-style arrangement of the Schwebel jingle, and the band performed it at the pep rally.
