Winter Concert of the Boardman Bands set for tonight

The Winter Concert of the Boardman Bands is set for Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Boardman Performing Arts Center. The concert features Boardman High School's Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble as well as the Percussion Ensemble, Clarinet Quartet, and Trombone Quartet.

Musical selections include: "A Festival Prelude," "Amparito Roca," "Tribute to Sammy Davis, Jr.," "One Foot," and "Music from Black Panther." Percussion Ensemble will open the concert with "Jazz Variants," a piece the group performed at the recent OMEA Solo and Ensemble event.

This year's featured Senior Soloist is Miles Spearman on the trumpet. He will be accompanied by the Wind Ensemble playing the Haydn Trumpet Concerto.

Boardman senior soloist Miles Spearman is getting set to perform tonight (Thursday, Feb. 28) at the annual winter concert at BPAC.

Miles is the son of Patrick and Stacey Spearman. He was twice selected for the OMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble and has consistently been principal chair in the annual OMEA District 5 Honors Band. Miles also plays in the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Donations of $3 for adults and $2 for students are accepted at the door. Senior citizens are admitted free of charge. The Boardman Bands are under the direction of Thomas M. Ruggieri, Timothy P. Tuite, and Michael J. Shevock.
