Historical Society to meet May 21

The Poland Historical Society May business meeting will begin at 6:30 pm. on May 21, at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Rd. (Rt. 224 & Struthers Rd. intersection), Poland Township. At 7:30, Traci Manning, Curator of Education from the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, will present a program about Native Americans in the Mahoning Valley.

The public is invited to visit the Historical Society's museum inside the Little Red Schoolhouse during an open house on June 9, July 14, and August 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. Many items related Poland families and local history will be on display and Society members will be available to answer questions.

The Historical Society has announced plans for an exciting fundraising bus trip to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. The itinerary for the day begins when the bus leaves from the Poland Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Rd., promptly at 8:30 a.m. and arrives in Pittsburgh at 10 a.m., and includes a visit to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden, lunch at the Schenley Park Caf, followed by a tour of the Frick Art & Historical Center and the Clayton Mansion. The bus will leave Pittsburgh at 5 p.m. for the return trip to Poland. The cost of this fundraiser bus trip is $115 and includes the bus, admissions, and lunch. Registration for the trip is due by August 12 but early registration is recommended. Registration forms are available through the Poland Historical Society or can be emailed.
