The Austintown ATA (American Taekwondo Association) had 17 competitors, ages 5-26, compete at the Pickerington Tournament on April 27. The co-owner, Nick Vitale (4th degree black belt) along with two other instructors, Kevin Wilhide and Levi Reed, were among the competitors from the school. The school walked away with 35 medals and 23 state titles, giving 11 of them the opportunity to compete at Districts. That number is more than double who went last year. Eight competitors are traveling to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to compete against 14 other states for a “District Champ” title. Pictured are team members, in front: Macy Ruggles, Layla Lanouette-Miller, Freya Lanouette-Miller, Ryland Koch, Shawn Goodman, and Reghan Koch.
