July 2, 2019
The Town Crier

Carole Ann Drick, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, of Austintown, Ohio, was awarded the 2019 Service Award at the AHNA 39th Annual Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 6. The AHNA Service Award recognizes a AHNA member who consistently contributes their expertise and time to advance AHNA, its mission, vision and support its' programmatic activities.

Drick has a long rich history in holism and self-care for over 38 years. Her underlying theme has been shifting the consciousness of both the health care provider and the person to one of holistic care and living including the use of integrative health approaches.

As one of the early advocates of holism, she was the first childbirth educator in the state of Indiana in the late 1970s. Now her focus is quality of life across the life span and especially at the end of life. As Past President of the American Holistic Nurses Association and board certified as an Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse by the American Holistic Nursing Certification Corporation, Drick exemplifies holism and brings a rich presence to every encounter as the voice and presence of Holistic Nursing. Her work both nationally and internationally is inspiring and reflects her deep understanding on that which she speaks so eloquently. Her private practice, Conscious Awareness, brings a fresh energized approach to living a life you love.
