The Boardman Spartan Marching Band and the Boardman Band and Orchestra Parents, Inc. hosted Boardman Band Night '19 on Friday, in Spartan Stadium.

"This event is subtitled 'Return from the Rain!' In the past four years (since the new stadium), we've held Boardman Band Night only ONCE because of rain. I just had to move it out of hurricane season!" said Boardman Band Director Tom Ruggieri. "The forecast for Friday night looked great."

The evening featured high school marching bands from McDonald, Lowellville, Austintown Fitch, Howland, and Boardman. This year's Boardman Spartan Marching Band show included music by Queen, a Motown Medley, The Who's "Baba O'Riley," a cool drum feature, and a fun production celebrating the 20th anniversary of Spongebob Squarepants.

Boardman Band drumline members Vince Ricotilli, Graham Seditz, Max Rassega, Nate Thompson, and trumpet player Jacob Dohar get in some drills as they prepared for Friday's band night performance. The band members will continue to hone their skills as they prepare for their big trip to Disney World in December.

The Boardman Band is under the direction of Thomas M. Ruggieri, Timothy Tuite, and Michael Shevock. Also on staff are Madison Landgraff and Courtney McGrady as instructors of the Sweethearts and Silks.

Band Night '19 kicked off the season, and set the stage for yet another outstanding year for the Boardman Spartan Marching Band. The big trip for this school year will take place in December, 2019 as the band travels to Disney World during the winter break as part of the Fantasy Parades For the Holidays.
