The award-winning Boardman High School Symphony, Chamber, and Classical Orchestras will present their annual Winter Holiday Festival on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Boardman Performing Arts Center.

The combined Chamber and Classical Orchestras will open the program with several holiday favorites. This group will perform two holiday medleys titled "A Christmas Suite and Christmas Classics" that contain traditional holiday carols such as "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" and "O Come, All Ye Faithful." They will then take the audience for a ride on "The Polar Express" followed by a performance of one of the most popular holiday tunes by George Michael and the rock band Wham! titled, "Last Christmas." They will close out this portion of the program with a piece titled "A Gleeful Christmas" which is a compilation of the songs featured in the hit TV show Glee.

Taking the stage next will be Chamber Orchestra as they open their portion of the program with the famous "Christmas Concerto" by Arcangelo Corelli which will feature Anna Olivier and LiLi DiMuzio on violin and Guy Tepsick on Cello. Next, Cora Ams will be the featured vocalist on "Let It Go" from Frozen. Chamber Orchestra will close their portion of the program with the "Overture and Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah.

Finally, the 120-member Symphony Orchestra will perform a host of great holiday favorites. They will open the symphonic portion of the concert with "A Christmas Festival" by Leroy Anderson. They will then feature our brass section with a jazzy rendition of Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and Jingle Bell Rock in "A Rockin' Christmas" arranged by Chuck Sayre. They will also perform the theme from the hit motion picture "Christmas Vacation" and selections from the "Nutcracker Suite." As they head into the rock portion of the program, they will add drummers, guitarists and Mayhem vocalists Anna Olivier, Cora Ams and Peter Fernandez as they play Trans-Siberian Orchestra tunes: "Christmas Canon Rock, Wizards in Winter and Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24". Finally, they will close the concert with the classic "Sleigh Ride" by American composer Leroy Anderson.
