On Saturday, Dec. 14, U.S. Army Captain Troy Gessner, a member of the U. S. Army Dental Corps, participated in 'Wreaths Across America' by placing a wreath in Arlington National Cemetery at the grave of his Great-Uncle, Sgt. 1st Class Ronald E. Gessner in Arlington, VA. Sgt. Ronald Gessner was a resident of Austintown, a member of the Army Cavalry and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the Mahoning County Veterans' Commission and was active in establishing the Vietnam Memorial in Downtown Youngstown. Captain Gessner, a 2006 Canfield High School graduate is currently stationed as a dentist at the Pentagon having recently returned from serving three years at Camp Zama in Japan.
