Boardman students have artwork displayed at Rulli Brothers

For the second year, Rulli Brothers Grocery Store in Boardman is displaying students' work from Boardman Center Intermediate School. Students sketch stills of Rulli Brother Pasta Sauce jars, and the best of the fifth and sixth grade artwork every nine weeks is selected to be displayed in the entrance to the grocery store.

"It's a great way for the kids to develop a sense of pride, and to build their confidence," said BCIS art teacher Kate Sears. "Art can be so subjective, but seeing their work displayed in a busy store like Rulli Brothers, is a big boost."

Sears always used the pasta jars as a mainstay during the lesson on still life sketching. She approached store owner Michael Rulli last year about displaying the best at the Boardman grocery store.

Fifth graders Cooper Bartholomew and Jordyn LaCivita show off their art that will be on display at Rulli Brothers Grocery Store this month.

Since then, she's selected more than two dozen students' sketches to greet Rulli customers at the door.
