Fitch baseball standout Gabe Faunda signed his letter of intent with Malone College on Feb. 4. The senior baseball star will be continuing a path that started around age five.

"I started playing for Austintown Community Baseball around age five and just stayed with it," Faunda said.

He is part of the Fitch team that ended the past two seasons at 18-8. Last year, the team made it to the second round of playoffs and Fitch Head Baseball Coach Joe Paris said he is hoping to go a lot further this year and appreciates having Faunda on the team for one more season.

Joined by proud parents Kelley Parker and Greg and Michelle Faunda, Fitch baseball standout Gabe Faunda signed his letter of intent on Feb. 4 to continue his baseball career at Malone College this fall.

"He is one of the hardest workers I have coached in my 26 years of coaching baseball," said Paris. "He does the little things most kids don't."

He said getting the signing done now is a big plus so it won't be hanging over his head with the start of baseball season.

As for Faunda's choice of colleges, he said Malone was a good fit.

"I went for a visit and really liked the coaching staff," Faunda said. "They treated me like I was a player. It is more of a relaxed approach and I like that."

While at Malone, Faunda plans on majoring in biology with the intent to go into chiropractic medicine.
