Boardman teens awarded for Optimist essay

The Boardman Optimist Club recently awarded the winners of its annual township-wide essay contest with a presentation at Boardman High School's new Media Center. Optimist Club President Sgt. Chuck Hillman presented certificates and Barnes and Noble giftcards to three Boardman High School juniors: Brandon Noel (first place), TaJuan Richards (second place), and Anthony Micco (third place).

The contest is open to all area high school students in Boardman Township. The essay question this year was "Is Optimism the Key to Achieving the Dreams you iMagine?.

As the first place winner, Brandon Noel's essay will advance to the Ohio District Level of the contest for a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship.
