Plastic
I remember the days when "the milkman" delivered milk in glass, sealed bottles, right to the home on a weekly basis. Sanitizing the bottles was part of the dairy business, reusing them over and over. Perhaps we should revisit that time and consider the fact that it costs a lot less and has far less environmental impact to use a re-usable container for our milk supply. It just makes sense.

A few years ago, I was living out of the area and a convenience store offered reusable milk jugs. They were still plastic and the initial cost - if you bought a new bottle - was slightly higher - but when you returned the bottle and purchased a new one the cost was inline with regular disposable jugs. I can't remember the name of the chain of stores but it was a nice program.
